As Google Analytics 4 (GA4) continues to be developed and enhanced by Google, there have been some recent additions to the tool with some new functionality and also some features that were in Universal Analytics reappearing again in GA4 .Here we take a look at what’s new so far in 2025.
Annotations on line graphs
Having the ability to annotate trend charts in Universal Analytics was noticeable in its absence in GA4 until the last month when Google announced that annotations are now back for line graphs in overview and detailed reports. We’ve covered this useful addition in a separate blog article – Annotations Now Added to Google Analytics 4.
Percentage values in Google Analytics report tables
Another useful feature in Universal Analytics which had been missing from GA4 was the display of percentages in the table reports. These have now been added to each row for all detailed reports in the “Reports” and “Ads” modules to help users better understand the weight of each row in comparison to the total value.
Missing session start and high not set rate notifications
When a report shows a high rate of missing session_start events or of (not set) values, Google displays an icon with more information. Interacting with the icon will explain the issue detected and the cause, linking to more information including how to resolve the issue in the future.
Copy reports and explorations across properties
It’s now possible to copy the configuration of a custom detail report or exploration from one property to another property, so configuration differences across properties can be avoided, to save time creating the reports / explorations and spend more time analysing and getting insights from the data.
Consent settings hub
Consent settings can now be learnt about and managed from a centralised hub in Google Analytics Admin. This hub helps to clarify how Analytics uses consent signals and enables the viewing of the collection status of consent signals across properties’ streams and addressing consent-related diagnostics. Access this hub by logging into GA4, then going to Admin, then ‘Data collection and modification’ by clicking ‘Consent settings’.
A good place to keep up with all the new additions being made to GA4 is to visit this page from the online Analytics help section.
